PEGEM provides exercise support in multiple ways – (1) simulate a
chemical/biological attack in the White Cell that can be used by the war
fighter for exercises, (2) provide NBC messages from the White Cell to the war
fighter simulating an attack, (3) assess the effects from chemical/biological
attacks in the White Cell, and most importantly (4) train the war
fighter. War fighter training often encompasses both active and passive
defense. Active defense requires planning for chemical/biological attacks
and passive defense assists in planning and early warning.
During a training exercise PEGEM operates in the White Cell providing multiple
capabilities (see items 1 – 3 above). Standalone PEGEM units may be
distributed in battalion TOCs, Combat Reporting Centers, and Passive Defense
Cells of Tactical Air Operations Centers (TAOC) or the US Army Air and Missile
Defense Center (AAMDC). Illustrated below is a typical PEGEM support
configuration for exercises.

Each year PEGEM expands its capabilities to support war fighter training.
